Finalizer: Understanding the range parameter in the Expander expert menu

Question

What does the range parameter do in the Expander expert menu?

Answer

The expander range determins the maximum amount of gain reduction in the expander. When set for example to 6dB, the expander will only reduce the output with 6 dB, no matter how much the signal drops below the threshold.

This enables you to simply reduce the signal below a certain threshold, instead of complete shut-off.
