Flashback X4: Expression Pedal special functions

Question

The manual talks about three parameters available with the Exp Pedal : "DELAY TIME, "FEEDBACK" & "DELAY LEVEL". Do I access to other parameters with the expression pedal?

Answer

Yes, first, assign delay parameters and parameter ranges to the expression pedal as described in the manual on page 19.

Then, connect the Flashback X4 to your computer through USB connection. You can download the editor from this page.

Open the TonePrint editor, on the "Editor" screen, at the bottom to the left, there is a little window "Knob Selection". On it, you can change the parameter of these three following knobs:

  • DELAY TIME
  • FEEDBACK
  • DELAY LEVEL

On the TonePrint editor, if you assign another parameter for the "DELAY TIME" knob for instance to "Delay - Saturation" parameter, if your expression pedal is set change the "DELAY TIME" it will not change the delay time anymore BUT the "Delay - Saturation" parameter ! It is a great feature not mentioned on the user manual. What is great in this "hidden" feature is that the setting will be save even if you disconnect the USB from your computer and when you turn off the Flashback X4!

But do not forget to calibrate the expression pedal with the regarding knob. Set the expression pedal at its maximum and the knob as well and press the memory switch 1, 2, 3, depending where you want to save your own preset. Then turn the expression pedal at its minimum and the knob as well and press the memory switch 1, 2, 3, depending where you want to save your own preset. Of course, It has to be on the same preset for both operations. On the following page, you will find a short video from us to set the expression pedal:

Finally, keep in mind that if you change the setting of one knob, you will no more change the parameter written on the pedal, for instance "DELAY TIME" but on the parameter you have finally chosen on the TonePrint editor. Even if you do not use the pedal and set the parameter on the knob. It is a reprogramming for the initial parameter of the knob to anything else, to another parameter, to the parameter you have chosen.
