G-Major / G-Major 2: Master volume control with expression / MIDI pedal

Question

Is it possible to control the master volume of the G-Major with a MIDI/expression-pedal?

Answer

Yes, it is certainly possible.

Here's how to do it with a MIDI-pedal:

  1. Make sure your pedal is properly connected.
  2. Press the MOD button, and scroll with the outer right hand dial to the Global InLv parameter.
  3. Using the inner right hand dial, adjust the value to "Learn", and push the dial to enter - now the text display should be flashing.
  4. Move the MIDI pedal you want to assign to the volume function - now the flashing stops, and the pedal is automatically assigned.

The above procedure lets you control the global input level of the G-Major - this means that delay repeats and reverb tail will ring out after you turn down the volume. If you want to mute these as well when turning down the volume, choose the Global OutLv parameter instead of the Global InLv in the menu.

Here's how to do it with an expression-pedal:

  1. Make sure your pedal is properly connected.
  2. Press the MIDI/UTIL button and scroll to the "PedalCalib <Enter>" option. Press the value-encoder to confirm.
  3. Move the pedal to its Maximum position and press the value-encoder to confirm.
  4. Move the pedal to its Minimum position and press the value-encoder to confirm. You might need to repeat steps 3 and 4.
  5. The display now says <PedalCalib. Done>.
  6. Press the MOD button, and scroll with the outer right hand dial to the Global InLv parameter.
  7. Using the inner right hand dial, adjust the value to "Learn", and push the dial to enter - now the text display should be flashing.
  8. Move the pedal you want to assign to the volume function - now the flashing stops, and the pedal is automatically assigned. The above procedure lets you control the global input level of the G-Major - this means that delay repeats and reverb tail will ring out after you turn down the volume. If you want to mute these as well when turning down the volume, choose the Global OutLv parameter instead of the Global InLv in the menu.
