System 6000: Analog output temporarily shuts down after a click is heard in the hardware

Question

System 6000 hardware makes a click sound as the analog output temporarily shuts down then come back. Why?

Answer

This can happen if you use balanced cables and the parameter output connection is set to unbalanced. .. or the other way round. If the parameter does not match the type of the cable, a relay will open/close and that will mute the signal temporarily
This could also indicate that a cable is faulty.
