System 6000: How to recall presets, scenes and routings via MIDI

How do I recall presets, scenes and routings via external MIDI control ?

Answer

First you should check if you have made all the general MIDI settings correctly.

  • Go to the FRAME/SYSTEM/MIDI page. Here you can setup the MIDI channels for both SCENE, ROUTING, and the 4 ENGINES.
  • Specify the MIDI channels you want to use.
  • Also make sure that both the READ PRG CHANGE and the READ CTRL CHANGE parameters are set to "ON"

The Bank Modes for the SCENE, Routing and ENGINE bank should be set to "NORMAL" to allow you to be to access all banks via external MIDI control.

Bank selection is done via Ctrl 0 (MSB) and Ctrl 32 (LSB): Ctrl 0 must bet set to 0 in all cases. Controller 32 must match the bank number you wish to address.

  • Ctrl 32 value 0 - Bank 0: Reverb A (Music Stereo)
  • Ctrl 32 value 1 - Bank 1: Reverb B (Music Stereo)
  • Ctrl 32 value 2 - Bank 2: Reverb (Music Surround)
  • Ctrl 32 value 3 - Bank 3: Reserved
  • Ctrl 32 value 4 - Bank 4: Reverb A (Film Stereo)
  • Ctrl 32 value 5 - Bank 5: Reverb B (Film Stereo)
  • Ctrl 32 value 6 - Bank 6: Reserved
  • Ctrl 32 value 7 - Bank 7: Reverb (Film Surround)
  • Ctrl 32 value 8 - Bank 8: Reserved
  • Ctrl 32 value 9 - Bank 9: Mastering
  • Ctrl 32 value 10 - Bank 10: Reserved

Example: You wish to recall preset 10 from the Reverb (Music Surround) bank. As you can see from the table above the Reverb (Music Surround) bank number is 2. Set Ctrl 0 to “0” and Ctrl 32 to “2” and send program change no 10.

If you are sending MIDI device sends no Ctrl 0 or 32 forbank selection, but only a program change, you must set the bank to be accessed as follows:

Basic operation:

  • Select parameter by touching the parameter.
  • Use Fader 6 to change value.
  • Changes are instantly carried out.
