Transferring ownership of a plug-in / software license

Question

How do I transfer a software license? 

Answer

For all software products please check that NFR ("Not For Resale") is not printed on the package or appear as part of the name of the registred product on the TC My Account. These versions will not be supported and cannot be transferred.

When you transfer a software license, please verify that you receive a printed serial number from the seller.

Pro Tools TDM plug-ins

1. Plug-ins authorised with an iLok USB key:

Full licenses:

  • Can be transferred to another iLok belonging to yourself.
  • Can be transferred to another user.

NFR / MassivePack licenses:

  • Can be transferred to another iLok belonging to yourself.

All support matters regarding transferring plug-ins are handled through the iLok website, not by TC.

Please note the following regarding having your authorisation for a Pro Tools HD plug-in transferred to another user:

  • The transaction is handled only through the the iLok website and iLok charges $25 per transfer.
  • All transfers are subject to approval by TC Electronic, and should take no more than 1-2 business days.

2. Plug-ins authorised with challenge/response authorisation:

Please ask the seller to get in touch with us requesting a license transfer. We will need the following details for transferring registrations:

  • Serial number and name of the product.
  • Full name of the new user.
  • Address and contact details of the new user.
  • Email address of the new user.

Once we have received this information, we will transfer the registration of the plug-in over.

 

Native software

For Native software products authorized with the iLok or iLok 2 key, please refer to the section above concerning Pro Tools TDM plug-ins.

Please ask the seller to get in touch with us requesting a license transfer. We will need the following details for transferring registrations for native software products like FX Machine, Native Bundle & Spark

  • Serial number and name of the product
  • Full name of registered user
  • Address of registered user
  • Email of registered user . 

Once we have received this information, we will de-register the product at which point it can be re-registered to your name.
