VoiceLive 3: How can I export presets and setup data with VoiceSupport?
How can I export Presets and Setup Data?
It's actually pretty easy, just use VoiceSupport! Exporting your VoiceLive 3's presets and setup data can be great for backing up your work, or for sharing it with others.
(This guide was written using the VoiceLive 3's firmware build 366, and VoiceSupport 2's firmware build 136, so some menus may appear different to you if you haven't updated in a while)
Connecting your VoiceLive 3
Our free VoiceSupport 2 application is available for Windows and Mac
. Once installed, prep your VoiceLive 3 by entering the "Setup" menu, tabbing over to the "MIDI" tab, and setting the "Source" to "USB". Now your VL3's ready to talk to your computer.
Use the USB cable that came with your VoiceLive3 to hook it up to your computer. If you've lost your cable, you'll need to find a USB-mini to USB type-A cable like
. Plug the small USB-mini end into the back of your VoiceLive 3, and the other end into your computer. We recommend using a USB port on the rear of your computer, as they are typically more stable - loosing a USB connection during an operation can lead to some issues we'd like to avoid.
With the VoiceLive 3 powered on and connected to your computer, launch VoiceSupport. Once a connection is established, tab over to the "Presets" tab in VoiceSupport. If there's a big prompt in the middle of the window to sync with your VoiceLive, do so! Most people will have this set to sync automatically though.
Once you're synced up in the Presets tab, you'll see an "Export" button in the top-right of the window that will open up your exporting options.
It's possible to export a single preset, or all of your presets. This is up to you, depending on why you're exporting - our
may be asking you to send them a troublesome preset of yours, or you may be wanting to make a portable backup of every preset. In the Export window, choose the destination folder you want exported presets to end up in by clicking the "Browse" button. You have the option under the "Export Data" section to choose either the currently selected presets (the presets highlighted in the previous Presets tab), or to export all of your presets. If you're exporting more than one preset, you can have them all bundled into a "Single File", or you can create "One File Per Preset". Typically you'll want to have your "Export Source" looking at your "Workspace", which is the content currently on your VoiceLive 3 hardware. It's also possible however to export presets from backups you've already made within VoiceSupport.
Once you have all your settings in order, click the "Start Export" button and VoiceSupport will spit out the ".syx" file(s) in your destination folder.
Exporting Setup Data
It's also possible to export your Setup Data from your VoiceLive 3, this is a collection of all the parameters within the "Setup" touch button currently on your VoiceLive 3 hardware. This can be very useful for troubleshooting issues, if you're about to perform a factory reset, or if you have multiple VoiceLive 3 units that you want to behave in the same way. In the "Export" window, under the "Export Data" section select "Setup Data", and the "File Handling" section will automatically switch over to "Single File". Choose the destination folder you want this file to end up in by clicking the "Browse" button, rename the file if you like, and ensure the "Export Source" is set to "Workspace".
With all that set, click the "Start Export" button and VoiceSupport will create a ".syx" file in the destination folder you've chosen.
Please note that these export options will
include data like your saved loops, backing tracks, automation, or looper settings. To back up these other things, a separate process through a USB flash drive is covered in the VoiceLive 3
. If you'd like to dive deeper into VoiceSupport, its manual and downloads are available
